My Trip to Izumo: November 2023

 

I love traveling.  

私は旅行が大好きです。

 

I have been to many places in my life.

私は今までの人生いろいろなところに行ってきました。

 

I like to see beautiful places and take pictures.

私は美しいところを見て、写真を撮るのが好きです。

 

Under the COVID-19 situation, we cannot travel around the world freely as we used to.

コロナ禍では、かつてのように自由に海外旅行が出来ません。

 

Therefore I have traveled around Japan instead.

だから、その代わり、私は国内を旅しています。

 

I have been to Sanin Sanyo several times in my life.

私は今までの人生で山陰山陽に何度か行ったことがあります。

 

Actually for the past several years I went to Izumo and Hiroshima every year around October or November.

ここ数年は、10月か11月に出雲と広島に行っています。

 

October in the lunar calendar is known as Kannazuki (literally means gods without month) for the most part of Japan, but in Izumo it is Kamiarizuki (literally means gods exist month) because 8 million gods get together in Izumo to discuss. And there are festivals there for a week or so.

旧暦の10月は日本のほとんどの場所で神無月ですが、出雲では神在月です。なぜなら八百万の神々が出雲に集まっているからです。そして1週間ほどお祭りがあるのです。

 

Last year I was very lucky to see the last day of the festivals called Karasadesai.

昨年は幸運なことにお祭りの最終日の「神等去出祭」を見ることが出来ました。

 

This year I decided to book the hotel in Hiroshima first and return tickets between Shinagawa and Hiroshima by Shinkansen, and go to Izumo by express bus.

今年は、まず広島のホテルと品川と広島間の往復の新幹線を予約し、高速バスで出雲を往復することにしました。

 

After work I headed for Shinagawa and took 19:46 Skankansen bound for Hiroshima and arrived there at 23:32 and went to the hotel I stayed two years ago.

仕事の後品川に向かい、19:46発の広島行きの新幹線に乗り、23:32に到着し、2年前に泊まったホテルに行きました。

 

Next day I wore kimono and headed for Izumo City by express bus and took a train later. First I went to see my benefactor who helped my predicament three years ago and to Takenoya hotel to leave my suitcase, and headed for the Inasa beach.

翌日着物を着て高速バスで出雲市に向かい、その後電車に乗りました。まず3年前に私の窮地を救ってくれた恩人に会いに行き、そして竹野屋旅館に行って、スーツケースを置いてから稲佐の浜に向かいました。

 

After that I went to the Great Torii Gate and had zenzai, sweet red bean soup, for lunch and went back to the hotel.

その後宇迦橋の大鳥居に行き、昼食代わりにぜんざいを食べ、旅館に戻りました。

 

I attended the one night two days tour visiting Izumo oyashiro shrine and Miho jinja shrine.

一泊二日で出雲大社と美保神社を参拝するツアーに参加しました。

 

We enjoyed very delicious foods, formal visits, and lectures.

私たちは美味しい料理、正式参拝、講義を楽しみました。

 

Next day I left Izumo for Hiroshima and stayed there for two nights.

翌日出雲を出て広島に向かい2日間滞在しました。

 

I enjoyed meeting relatives and visiting many places there.

私は、親戚に会い、いろいろなところに行きました。
