Hydrangea: 2026

I have started publishing sunlight pictures as “Beautiful Nature Series” since May 2022.
私は光の写真集を「美しい自然シリーズ」として2022年5月から出版してきました。

I decided to start a new series of flower pictures as “Graceful Nature Series” to celebrate my birthday in May 2026.
誕生日記念に新たな「優雅なる自然シリーズ」として花の写真集を出すことにしました。

Most of Japanese people love Sakura, cherry blossoms. Therefore, the first book was about Sakura, cherry blossoms.
ほとんどの日本人は桜が大好きです。だから最初の本は桜にしました。

To my glad this book became No. 1 in the USA and Japan.
嬉しいことにこの本は日米で1位になりました。

Most women love roses. Therefore, the second book was about roses.
ほとんどの女性は薔薇が大好きです。ですから2冊目は薔薇の本にしました。

Thankfully, this book became No. 1 in the USA, Canada, and Japan.
ありがたいことにこの本は日米加で1位になりました。

I chose hydrangea, a hallmark of the rainy season, as the third book.
3冊目として、梅雨の風物詩、紫陽花を選びました。

Hydrangeas are native to Japan and bloom from May to July.
紫陽花は日本原産で、5月から7月に咲きます。

There are many colors: blue, purple, red, pink, white and so on. The colored parts that look like flowers are not actually flowers, but modified leaves called calyx. The change in the color of the calyx is related to the soil’s pH level. If the soil is acidic, the calyx turns blue: if it is alkaline, it turns reddish: and if it is neutral, it turns purplish.
青、紫、赤、ピンク、白などなどいろいろな色があります。花に見えているところは実は花ではなく、ガクと呼ばれる葉っぱが変形したものです。ガクの色が変わるのは土壌のpH値が関係しています。土壌のpH値が酸性の場合は青色、pH値がアルカリ性の場合は赤系、中性の場合は紫系になります。

There are mainly 3 types of hydrangeas: Honajisai, Gakuajisai, Seiyo-ajisai. But they say there are more than 2,000 varieties worldwide.
主に3タイプ（ホンアジサイ、ガクアジサイ、セイヨウアジサイ）ありますが、現在では世界中で2000種類以上の品種があるようです。

Enoshima: June 2026

 I love traveling.

私は旅行が大好きです。

I have been to many places in my life.
私は今までの人生いろいろなところに行ってきました。

I like to see beautiful places and take pictures.
私は美しいところを見て、写真を撮るのが好きです。

There are many sightseeing spots in Kanagawa prefecture where I live.
私の住んでいる神奈川県にはたくさんの観光地があります。

One of them is Enoshima.
そのうちのひとつが江の島です。

When I was young, my friends from university and I used to have overnight seminars in Enoshima.
若いころは大学時代の友人と江の島で泊りがけのセミナーをよくしていました。

For the past few years, I go to Enoshima every year to visit the Island SPA　after visiting the Enoshima shrines.
ここ数年は毎年、江島神社参拝後に江の島アイランドスパに行っています。

Last year was the year of the Snake, therefore my friends and I went there to attend the First Snake Festival in April.
昨年は巳年だったので、友人と私は4月の初巳祭に参加するために行きました。

Japan is an Island country. Japanese archipelago consists of four major islands (Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu) alongside 14,121 smaller islands.
日本は島国です。北海道、本州、四国、九州の主要4島をはじめ、14,125の島嶼群から構成されています。

I have visited some islands and introduced them as the series of “My Trips” so far.
今までいくつかの島に行き、それらを「私の旅」シリーズとして紹介してきました。

From now on regarding the trips to islands, I would like to introduce as “Amazing Islands”series.
これからは、島への旅については、「すごい島」シリーズとして紹介したいと思います。
　
In June 2026 I went to Enoshima twice.
2026年6月に2回江の島に行きました。

Last summer I happened to know about Tombolo Phenomenon of Enoshima and wanted to see this year.
昨年の夏たまたま江の島のトンボロ現象のことを知り、今年行きたいと思っていました。

It is a phenomenon where you can cross the sandy beach to reach the island at low tide.
それは干潮時に砂浜を渡って島に渡れる現象です。

It happens from April 3 to August 14 for several times this year.
今年は4月3日から8月14日までに何回かその現象が起こります。

However, on weekends there was only one chance for me to go, and I went there on June 14.
しかしながら、私が行ける週末に起こるのは、6月14日だけなので、その時に行ってきました。

On June 30 there is a Shinto ceremony called Nagoshi no oharae at many shrines in Japan.
6月30日に日本の多くの神社では「夏越しの大祓」という儀式があります。

At that time a big ring made of reeds is set at the shrine and we pass the ring to purify ourselves of impurities and misfortune and pray for good health and freedom from disaster which is called “Chinowa kuguri.”
その時神社には大きな茅の輪が設置されます。私たちは「茅の輪くぐり」と呼ばれる、茅で作られた大きな輪をくぐり、穢れや災厄を払い、無病息災を願います。

I wanted to do Chinowa kuguri, and the invitation ticket to Island Spa expires on June 30; therefore, I went to Enoshima on June 28 for the second time.
茅の輪くぐりをしたかったし、アイランドスパの招待券の有効期限が6月30日までだったので、6月28日に2回目の江の島に行きました。

When I take pictures at the sacred places like shrines and temples, I can take wonderful light pictures without realizing.
神社仏閣のような神聖な場所で写真を撮ると、気づかぬうちに素晴らしい光の写真が撮れていることがあります。

Roses: 2026 Spring

Most of Japanese people love Sakura, cherry blossoms. Therefore, the first book was about Sakura, cherry blossoms.
ほとんどの日本人は桜が大好きです。だから最初の本は桜にしました。

Most women love roses. Therefore, the second book is about roses.
ほとんどの女性は薔薇が大好きです。ですから2冊目は薔薇の本です。

We can enjoy roses twice a year, around May and October.
薔薇は年に2回、5月と10月頃楽しめます。

There are many rose gardens in Japan, some are free and others need entrance fees.
日本にはたくさんのバラ園があり、あるものは無料で、他のものは有料です。

I have visited some free rose gardens in May.
5月にいくつかの無料のバラ園に行きました。

Sunlight: May 2026

Visiting 33 Kannon Statues: Miura 2026

 I have wanted to introduce Japanese culture to enhance the mutual understanding between Japan and other countries which would lead to the world peace and started publishing “Things Japanese” series since May 2019.

私は日本と諸外国との相互理解が世界平和につながると信じ日本文化を紹介したいと思い、2019年5月から『日本のこと』というシリーズを出版してきました。

After publishing 12 e-books, I started publishing “My Favorite Places” series which is about my travel records around the world in August 2020.
12冊出版したのち世界旅行の記録の「私のお気に入りの場所」シリーズを2020年8月から出版しました。

I published “Art is Unlimited” series in January 2021 though there is only one book yet
一冊しか出せてませんが、「芸術は無限」シリーズを2021年1月に出版しました。

I started publishing “Beautiful Nature: Sunlight” series once a month in May 2022.
2022年5月からは毎月「美しい自然: 光」シリーズの写真集を出版しています。

At the time of Pandemic, since I could not go abroad, I have started publishing “My Trip” series which introduce my trips in Japan since September 2022.
コロナ禍では海外に行けなかったので、2022年9月からは日本を紹介する日本の旅シリーズを出版しました。

I started to introduce ”Japanese Festivals” series in December 2022.
2022年12月には「日本のお祭り」シリーズを始めました。

Since I love waterfalls very much, I started publishing “Waterfalls” series in April 2023.
滝が大好きなので、2023年4月からは「滝」シリーズを始めました。

As for the 100th anniversary, I decided to introduce World Heritage, and chose Mt.Fuji and started “Magnificent nature” series.
100冊目の記念に世界遺産を紹介することにして富士山を取り上げ、「雄大な自然」シリーズとしました。

I often go to visit shrines and temples, so I started “Pilgrimage” series in January 2024.
よく神社仏閣に行くので「巡礼」シリーズを2024年1月から始めました。

In January 2025 I started publishing “Hiking” series.
2025年1月には「ハイキング」シリーズを始めました。

This year I started the new series “Graceful Nature: Flowers” in May.
今年は5月に「優雅な自然:花」シリーズを始めました。

There are many books I want to publish. The order is important. I wanted to publish the books in the chronical order. However, this time I introduce the 33 Kannon visiting in Miura Peninsula during my Golden Week while its’s still fresh in my mind.
沢山出版したい本があります。順番は大切です。本当は時系列的に出版したいです。でも今回は記憶が新しいうちに今年のゴールデンウィーク中に訪れた三浦三十三観音霊場を紹介したいと思います。

Most of Japanese people love Sakura, cherry blossoms. In March the weather forecast predicts the blooming of the cherry blossoms, and we look forward to viewing them.

ほんどの日本人は桜が大好きです。3月になると天気予報は開花予想をし、私たちはお花見を楽しみにします。

 There are many kinds of cherry blossoms, but in this case, it means Somei yoshino. We can enjoy them about a week or two.

沢山の桜の種類がありますが、この場合は、ソメイヨシノを指します。1～2週間楽しめます。

 In my area there is a cherry blossoms festival from early February to early March. These cherry blossoms are called Kawazu zakura and it is bright pink and lasts longer.

私の住んでいるところでは、2月上旬から3月上旬に桜まつりがあります。この桜は河津桜と言い、濃いピンクで、長く咲きます。

 Every spring I walk between two stations and enjoy seeing about the 1000 cherry blossom trees along the railway once or twice. I often enjoy viewing from the window of the trains, too.

私は毎春1～2回、2つの駅の間を線路に沿って歩き約1000本のこの桜を楽しみます。よく電車の中からも楽しみます。

 This spring I went to see cherry blossoms in Tokyo and Kamakura too.

この春は東京と鎌倉にもお花見に行きました。
